Key Identification Features
- Irregular brownish club/puffball shape (5–20 cm), smooth surface cracking at maturity, interior full of small bean-like peridioles embedded in dark chocolate-brown gleba. Smells strongly unpleasant (fetid). Grows in poor sandy soils under pines and oaks.
