Key Identification Features
- Dark brown to gray-black rosettes of leathery fan-shaped lobes (3–10 cm), white-fringed margins, dry and tough, growing from soil and encrusting forest litter and twigs. Resupinate or fan-shaped. No gills — smooth to wrinkled spore surface. Common in conifer forests.
