Key Identification Features
- Honey-brown slimy cap (4–12 cm), pale yellow pores that weep milky droplets when young (diagnostic), stem without a ring, covered in small granules at apex. Strictly mycorrhizal with pines. No ring present (vs. S. luteus).
Preparation Notes
Peel cap skin. Good edible. The weeping droplets on young pores are diagnostic. Common in pine plantations.
