Key Identification Features
- Cap 5–12 cm, brown to dark sepia-brown with small persistent white warts. Gills white, free. Ring on stem. Bulbous base with distinctive collar-like rim (gutter) — NOT a loose volva cup. White spore print. More severe than Fly Agaric
- higher ibotenic acid/muscimol concentration.
Symptoms & Toxicity
Onset 30 min–2 hr: severe confusion, delirium, agitation, hallucinations — typically more severe than Fly Agaric. May have anticholinergic-like features (dry skin, urinary retention, tachycardia). Seizures and coma more common. Resolve within 12–24 hr.
