Key Identification Features
- Cap 5-15 cm, olive-orange to yellowish-orange. True blade-like gills (NOT forking ridges), orange, crowded, running down stem. Grows in large clusters at base of oaks and other hardwoods. Gills faintly bioluminescent in dark. Olive-orange spore print. Western US counterpart to O. illudens.
Symptoms & Toxicity
Onset within 2-3 hr: severe GI distress — profuse vomiting, diarrhea, severe cramping. Usually self-limiting in 24 hr. No hepatic or renal toxicity.
